Gmail's App Password
Intro Why do this
An app password works like an alternate password for your account. It can only be used by the applications you share it with, so it’s more secure than sharing your primary password. you’ll need to turn on two factor authentication for your Google account first.
Intro
To set this up, please have the password for your Gmail account handy. This is a one time setup, it will not change how you login to your Gmail account going forward.
Set up Gmail to be Authenticated
Click on big circle upper right corner of your Gmail screen, it contains the Initial of the Gmail account
Click on Manage Your Account
Set up the account with 2-Step Verification aka 2FA
In the left menu, click Security
If you do not see the left column, make your window wider.Scroll down a little, to the How you sign into Google, choose 2-Step Verification
Follow prompts to set up the 2-Step Verification
When done, if you are still on the 2-Step Verification page, scroll down to bottom of this 2-Step Verification page, click on App Passwords
If you are back on the main Security page, Scroll down a little, to the How you sign into Google, choose 2-Step Verification and scroll down to bottom of this 2-Step Verification page, click on App Passwords
App Passwords: click on the right arrow
Then click on the down arrow for Select app, then choose Other (Custom name) — see attached image Gmail App Password 1.jpg
Fill in, Name of App ClientTracker. Then click blue button Generate — see attached image Gmail App Password 2.jpg
The result will look like this — see attached image Gmail App Password 3.jpg
Copy the password, paste it somewhere (like a sticky note or notepad) for temporary use.
Set up ClientTracker
1. Go to Settings/Program/Email tab2. Click on Step 2 Email Setting for Your Account4. Enter the Gmail address you just set up and the password you copied from the App Password generator.
5. Back on the main Email tab, click the Send Test Email to see how it worked.
