How can I move ClientTracker to another computer?

The process for moving your data to another computer is deceptively simple, providing the new computer is the same platform (Windows/Macintosh).

Please contact us for more information on moving the program to a different platform.

-------- WINDOWS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
a) copy the entire 'Ginkgo Software' folder from one computer to the other using a portable drive or by burning a cd. Place it in the same location on the new computer (c://Program Files/ on XP, Desktop\Your Name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Ginkgo Software\ on Vista)

b) open up the folder c://Program Files/Ginkgo Software/ClientTracker and find the file called ClientTracker. Right-click it and choose 'create shortcut'. This will make a new shortcut file in the same place called ClientTracker

c) drag this shorcut to your desktop. Note: be sure to copy the shortcut you created, not the original ClientTracker file.

IF YOU ARE USING VISTA: Locate the shortcut to ClientTracker on your desktop. Right-click on the shortcut and choose Properties, then the Compatibility tab. Check the box marked ‘Run this program as administrator’.

You can now use the shortcut on your desktop to access the program.

-------- MACINTOSH OS X --------------------------------------------------------------------------
a) copy the entire 'ClientTracker' folder from one computer to the other using a portable drive or by burning a cd. Place it in the same location on the new computer (usually Applications, or wherever you placed it when installing)

b) open up the folder Applications/ClientTracker and find the file called ClientTracker. Drag it to your dock and drop it.

You can now use the green ClientTracker icon on your dock to access the program.
